On the other hand, many organizations also recognize the need for longer-term restructuring solutions that go beyond simply responding to issues on a day-to-day basis. Although Eskom load shedding remains prominent in public discussion today, conversations must look further into the future in order to develop solid plans for adjusting infrastructure and overhauling policy and organizations like Eskom itself. Achieving sustainable energy security may involve considerable investment or changes in government legislation; this change will only come if there is strong cross-organizational commitment from all stakeholders involved.

At present, work is being done at both grassroot tiers (individuals) as well as governmental levels to reduce our reliance on Eskom by optimizing existing practices and rallying support for emerging renewable technologies.
